HOW SHOULD THE LOAD BE CONDITIONED?
Packing material The merchandise packaging material is placed around one or more articles in order to protect them from impacts, vibrations and external agents that it will face throughout the distribution route. There is currently a wide range of packaging material types, as described below: • Padding material It has the purpose of absorbing the impacts so that the product is not damaged, it also eliminates the empty spaces in the packaging. It can be made of paper, cardboard, unicel, foamed polyethylene, honeycomb or sealed air bubbles. • Stretch film They are thin sheets of plastic whose main use is to secure the load in a fast way, also known as “playo”, it is a technique widely used in our country to immobilize cargo on pallets. It can be applied by machinery or manually. • Shrink film It encapsulates the load making it more stable, and it is made of polyethylene. It can be applied manually or automatically. • Separators They are sheets placed between bed and bed of the product that serve to stabilize the load, made of honeycomb, corrugated cardboard or solid fiber of cardboard of variable dimensions. • Corners They protect the merchandise from blows caused by movement or strong compressions. Together with the heat-shrinkable film, they allow the articles to be compressed to achieve greater stability. • Gap fillers They serve to fill the gaps that remain between the merchandise and block the load to avoid movements and damage to the product. They can be made from honeycomb, paper airbags, or a corrugated cardboard accordion in the shape of hexagonal cells.
